About Me
As an undergraduate student majoring in Graphic Design at the Lebanese American University (LAU) in Beirut, Lebanon, I became proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, Adobe, InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator. The rigorous training at LAU provided me with advanced software skills, and allowed me to engage with various mechanisms that combine innovative art and design principles. Upon completing a BA in Graphic Design and returning to Amman in 2010, I joined PwC’s graphic design team and served as the lead in-house graphic designer. My duties included creating and designing Arabic and English publications, presentations, print advertisements, and posters in accordance to PwC guidelines. A year later I decided to join Kiwi Media Solutions, a team of young Jordanian filmmakers based in Amman, where I became responsible for creating and preparing all their visuals, interactive media and presentations. Later, I was inspired to open my own company (Harf Al-Meme) which literally translates to “The Letter M”; a 150 m2 creative workspace, providing artists in Amman with opportunity to interact, network and develop their design skills. I decided to combine the skills I acquired in these positions, and became a freelancer graphic designer focusing on designing, annual reports, events, social media campaigns, interactive publications, marketing collateral, infographics, and animated introductions. In addition to preparing files for print for various corporations in the MENA region. Clients included various leading international organizations and corporations such as the International Rescue Committee (IRC), USAID and Dash Ventures.
Before departing Amman, I was approached by Endeavor Jordan and Silicon Badia; a Jordanian VC, to design the corporate identity of a joint non-profit organization funded by USAID, called BeyondCapital. I was able to successfully design the BeyondCapital CI- which is a good representation of my work as a designer. Later I was incubated in the same space, where I served as the in-house designer for both Endeavor Jordan and BeyondCapital. However, In September 2018, my Immigration Visa application to the US was approved, as a result I’ve recently moved to Washington DC.
I believe that my academic and professional career will allow me to successfully create a variety of print and digital material in both English and Arabic. Given my previous experience with designing and planning marketing campaigns, events, corporate identities, and infographics within a team. I’ll be able to efficiently manage and design any needed marketing collateral for any project. My previous experience managing between my responsibilities as an in-house and freelance graphic designer allows me to efficiently execute multiple projects simultaneously, without compromising the quality or details of any design project I work on.
